About Our Grand Marshal

Dr. Chuck Epps 1.jpgEach year, the Town of Fort Mill recognizes an individual or group whose contributions have made a lasting impact on Fort Mill, and this year we are honored to celebrate Dr. Chuck Epps as our Grand Marshal of the 78th Annual Fort Mill Christmas Parade for his exceptional service and dedication to our community.

Dr. Epps' nearly five decades of service in public education—including 45 years with the Fort Mill School District—represent a remarkable legacy of growth, excellence and commitment. As Superintendent for 15 years, he led one of the fastest-growing and highest-achieving districts in South Carolina with vision, integrity and heart.

Under his leadership, Fort Mill School District nearly doubled in size, serving over 18,000 students across 20 schools, with additional schools and an Early Childhood Center in planning. He oversaw the opening of nine new schools, guided four successful community-approved bond referendums, and implemented South Carolina’s first school district Impact Fee—meeting the needs of a growing community while providing tax relief to residents.

His commitment to academic excellence has left a lasting mark. Under his leadership, the district consistently led the state in multiple academic measures, maintained a 95%+ graduation rate and produced graduates prepared for college and career success. Fort Mill schools received numerous state and national awards, including Blue Ribbon recognitions, National Model PLC Schools and countless honors for students, programs and staff.

Beyond education, his dedication to the Fort Mill community is inspiring. Through his service on boards such as the Fort Mill Rotary Club, the Springs Close Foundation, the Boys & Girls Clubs of York County and Clemson University’s Board of Visitors, he has strengthened our community and modeled the importance of leadership and civic engagement.

As he celebrates his retirement, the Town of Fort Mill is proud to recognize his extraordinary career and lasting impact on generations of students, educators, and community members.
