[ARCHIVED] Fort Mill Plans Live Memorial Day Ceremony

Memorial Day Ceremony 2021 IG

Join the Town of Fort Mill as we honor all those who died while serving in the United States military during an in-person Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 31, 2021.

The event will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Unity Cemetery, 303 Tom Hall St., with a welcome and introductory message from Fort Mill Mayor Guynn Savage, followed by a ceremonial program from American Legion Post 43. This includes an opening prayer, the Posting of Colors, Laying of the Wreath, Rifle Volley and Taps and Retirement of Colors. The names of local fallen soldiers will also be read during the ceremony.  Click here for the full program

The Town has invited several special guests for the ceremony, including Riverview Elementary School Music Teacher Billy Foxx who will perform the National Anthem, Fort Mill’s Got Talent Winner Brittani Miller and runner-up Elizabeth K. Thomas who will sing a patriotic medley, and our new South Carolina Strawberry Queens.

The event is free to attend and parking is available at the Fort Mill Utilities Department, 131 E. Elliott St., near the cemetery. The ceremony will be recorded and available later for viewing on Comporium Channel 115 and the Town’s YouTube channel (@fortmilltv). Please note Fort Mill Town Hall will be closed on Memorial Day.
