[ARCHIVED] New Fort Mill Water, Sewer, and Garbage Rates

20180412 fort mill logos-06

Fort Mill customers will see increases in their water, sewer and sanitation rates in their upcoming utility bills. Read on for an explanation of those changes:

Sanitation Fee Increase

The Town of Fort Mill is proud to offer a wide variety of sanitation services to its residents, including collection of residential garbage and recycling, yard debris and leaves, and large items such as appliances. Due to current economic trends, Fort Mill residents will see a slight increase in their residential sanitation fee for these services, from $19 to $21. The change will be reflected on upcoming utility bills.

The increase is due to rising costs in materials, fees and infrastructure throughout the sanitation industry. The Town is committed to providing these services at the lowest possible costs and at less expensive rates than the private sector.

The Town offers several sanitation services to enhance the quality of life in Fort Mill. Included in these services is household garbage collection in a 95-gallon roll cart once per week, recycling services collected in a 95-gallon roll cart every two weeks, curbside collection of household items such as furniture or appliances once per week, and curbside collection of yard debris, including leaf collection, on a weekly basis.  For sanitation customers who require additional carts, please contact the Fort Mill Public Works department to learn about additional fees. For more information about available services, visit the town’s website at www.fortmillsc.gov, go to Departments and click Public Works.

Water and Sewer Rate Increase

Fort Mill water customers will see a slight increase in their monthly billing. The Town’s water and sewer rates are based on increases from our wholesale water provider (the City of Rock Hill), as well as costs associated with maintenance of our infrastructure and facilities. These rates will increase by 7.5%. This equates to a $5.38 increase on a 10,000 gallon water bill. These increases help Fort Mill provide quality water that meets or exceeds all Department of Health regulations.
