Please note, weather forecasts for the Fort Mill area today, Oct. 29, 2020, include strong winds (20-30 mph) and gusts up to 45 mph which can cause unsafe traveling conditions. The York County Office of Emergency Management cautions residents to be careful when traveling as winds could create unsafe driving conditions and power outages. Here are some updates residents need to know:

-As of 12:50 p.m., there was still a power outage at the in-person absentee voting office at the Fort Mill Community Center (formerly the Banks Street Gym) at 1011 Talbot Drive. Voting has halted for the moment, though there is still a long line outside. Voters should use caution as weather conditions outside are still windy. Updates will be posted as needed.

-Banks Street is currently shut down between Confederate and Academy streets due to a downed tree. Motorists should use caution when driving in this area.
