The Town of Fort Mill Stormwater Department has partnered with Rainwater Solutions to offer rain barrels for sale every two years!  Anyone may purchase a rain barrel for use at their home or business, you do not need to be a Town of Fort Mill resident to purchase a rain barrel.  

If you are a Town of Fort Mill resident, you may also apply for a Stormwater Fee Credit once you install your rain barrel.  

Why should you purchase a rain barrel?  Rain barrels capture water from a roof and hold it for later use such as on lawns, gardens, or indoor plants. Collecting roof runoff in rain barrels reduces the amount of water that flows from your property. It's a great way to conserve water and it's free water for use in your landscape.

All orders must be picked up by customers (or their representatives) in person.  The rain barrels easily nest, 2 to 3 will fit in the back seat of a 4 door sedan.  Hatchback vehicles with the seats folded down will fit 3 to 6 nested rain barrels.  Tie downs are needed for open truck beds.

Town of Fort Mill Residents Stormwater Fee Credit

If you live in the town limits of Fort Mill (check map here to see if you qualify), you can submit an application for a stormwater fee credit for installing your rain barrel.

Your rain barrel must be properly installed at your residence or business to apply.

Fill out the application (found here) and read over the policy (here).  The section on Rain Barrels is on page 10 of the document.  

You can receive a 20% credit for having your rain barrel(s) installed.  Once you have been approved, you will need to submit the renewal form every two years to continue to receive the credit. 

A Stormwater Department staff person will come check the installation of your rain barrel after we have received your application.
